Ray Odom counsels clients on estate, charitable, business and tax planning. Ray has also assisted clients in estate administration and every aspect of trust management.
As former trust company Tax Counsel, and a Certified Financial Planner, Ray has helped clients at every income level and net worth, from retired clients needing financial advice to billionaire clients needing partnership tax planning.
Ray’s seminal article entitled “Statements of Wealth Transfer Intent: The New Goal Standard of Estate Planning” in Trusts and Estates magazine highlights his very personalized approach to every aspect of wealth transfer.
Ray began his private practice with Hoogendoorn & Talbot back in 1990-1994 where he learned fiduciary litigation, guardianship and charitable planning. After 30 years with the nation’s leading trust company, Ray returned to Hoogendoorn & Talbot in 2025.
Ray has been elected to be Fellow and Regent of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is also a member of the National Bar Association, The Cook County Bar Association and the Chicago Estate Planning Council.
